Suicide Prevention Training – Papyrus
PAPYRUS delivers a free introduction to suicide prevention online and in person to increase awareness of suicide and suicide prevention, develop hope and encourage action for a suicide safer community and to understand the importance of self-care.
SFA: Understanding Suicide Intervention
This one day course gives learners the knowledge and tools to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths and some basic skills can help someone stay safe from their thoughts and stay alive. Free for people living and working in Gwent.
Zero Suicide Alliance
Knowing the warning signs for suicide and how to get help can help save lives.
Zero Suicide Alliance provide free online suicide awareness training courses: a very brief introduction course (5-10 minutes) and a further awareness course (20 minutes). Both provide people with skills to help someone who may be considering suicide.
Free alcohol and substance misuse training for professionals.
The training covers substance use awareness; screening for young people’s substance use and responding to and working with young people who use substances; substance use and adolescent development; and New Psychoactive Substances.
Living Life to the Full
This series of courses teach you the skills you need to deal with symptoms of things like low mood, stress and anxiety, as well as many other topics.
The courses are based on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and teach you the skills you need to deal with symptoms like low mood, stress and anxiety. During the courses you will learn about things like how to cope with negative thoughts, how to become more confident, and how to solve problems that come up in your life.
Introduction to Self-Management
These are two hour single sessions giving an overview of the above 6 week courses. These are a taster session to see if you would like to take part in any of the 6 week courses.
Stance Diabetic Footcare
This course is a single session to promote knowledge and confidence to manage our Foot complications. How to identify when we need help and what we can do ourselves. We discuss fears and tools that we can adopt on a daily basis to minimise these.
Dual Covid Course
This is a two-session course that supports people living with Long-Covid. It looks at ways to cope with breathlessness and coughing, delirium and brain fog. It covers how to pace and plan and incorporates relaxation and Tai Chi.
Long Covid Management
A course based on the Living with long Term Conditions course; looking at ways of managing the symptoms, setbacks and mental health impact of Long Covid.
Caring for Me and You
A course run by carers for carers. This course helps you understand how to manage your caring role while also looking after yourself. It examines challenging behaviours and the impact that has on both parties. It helps you identify the triggers and ways to minimise the problem behaviour.
