GAVO Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations
GAVO support and advise organisations, community groups and individuals on all aspects of volunteering and provide training and advice for volunteers.

Blaenau Gwent:
Communities for Work focus on reducing the number of people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment or training, and increasing the employability of economically inactive/ long-term unemployed adults.
Caerphilly:
The Early Language Development Team help support young children and families across the borough, through fun-filled groups where they can explore, play, learn and love language.
Monmouthshire:
GAVO’s Carers Co-Ordinator supports carers by keeping them well-informed and promoting their wellbeing and their rights. The Carers Co-Ordinator also organises day trips and other fun activities throughout the year to help give carers some well-deserved respite.
Newport:
GAVO’s Newport Parent Participation Officer provides support to parents and carers by getting their voices heard to ensure that decisions are made with parents and not for them – all views and opinions are taken seriously and listened to. Parents can also get help with setting up their own parent support groups.
The Education Programme for Patients Team provide a fantastic range of self-management health and wellbeing courses and workshops for people living with, or caring for someone with, a health condition. Including: Living with Long Term Health Conditions, Living with Chronic Pain and Cancer – ‘Thriving & Surviving’. All courses are delivered by friendly Volunteer Tutors, whom have similar health conditions and have been EPP course participants in the past. In response to the first lockdown, these courses are now offered virtually through Zoom.

Torfaen Voluntary Alliance
TVA provide help and advice to volunteers, those who wish to start volunteering and organisations who recruit volunteers. TVA supports community based organisations, and social enterprise development in Torfaen and surrounding areas.

Blaenau Gwent:
Blaenau Gwent Council has a number of ‘Community Connectors’ working throughout the Borough to reconnect people back into their communities. Community Connectors also work with many groups and organisations within communities to help people find activities and groups that can benefit their own wellbeing.

Caerphilly:
Caerphilly Council has Community Connectors working with adults throughout the borough. They will aim to reconnect people with their communities by helping them find suitable activities and groups, linking people together who have similar interests and encouraging participation within their community.
Monmouthshire:
Community Connections supports people who are socially isolated in Monmouthshire to feel part of their community by providing volunteer befrienders. We bring people together either on a one-to-one basis or in social activity groups.
